VSI, the leading multidisciplinary spinal healthcare practice in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, is seeking a Clinical Assistant to join our elite team.
The Clinical Assistant is a multi-skilled health professional who works interdependently with other health care professionals to provide quality health care to patients. The Clinical Assistant will assist the providers and nurses with many aspects of patient care, including injections, procedures and patient education.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Prepare daily injection trays, including drawing up medications in syringes.
Escort patients to procedure rooms and prepare them for injections and procedures.
Review patient’s previous medical history, obtain vitals and assist physicians during injections.
Provide patient education and discharge instructions using appropriate medical terminology.
Assist nurses with recovering patients post procedure by removing IV, addressing patient’s needs and
cleaning recovery bays.
Perform venipuncture for PRP [Platelet Rich Plasma] procedures and spin PRP using on-site centrifuge.
Assist nurses with preparing sterile field for procedures.
Maintain supplies, equipment and inventory ensuring work cores and procedure rooms are clean and
appropriately stocked.
Sterilize instruments using autoclave machine.
Dispose of bio-hazard waste according to OSHA standards.
Assists providers with conscious sedation procedures by managing and understanding c-arm, documenting procedure findings, and running necessary equipment (including on-site centrifuge for Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate procedures).
Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelors degree, CNA or Certified Medical Assistant
Phlebotomy and IV experience preferred
BLS certified
EMR experience
Medical office/clinic experience preferred
Must possess superior customer service and multi-tasking skills
