Job Description

Salary: $17-$20/hour

Position title: School Receptionist

Position Description: The primary responsibility of the school receptionist is to perform various administrative functions in support of school operations. The receptionist will answer the telephones and greet visitors at the front desk.

Position Classification: Hourly

Reports to: Head of School

Qualifications: High school diploma required; undergraduate experience preferred but not required. Familiarity with basic secretarial duties, with 3 or more years of experience preferred. Experience with care of children required. Familiarity with the school preferred. Candidate must present a satisfactory record based on a check of records held by the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Ability to work well with others and be a team player;

- Ability to follow written and verbal direction;

- Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously;

- Ability to recognize and anticipate unsafe conditions;

- Knowledge of Mason Preparatory School’s emergency procedures

- Excellent verbal and inter-personal communication skills

- Basic typing skills

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Duties and responsibilities:

- act as first responder to signing people in and out via Schoolpass

- act as first responder to phone calls

- act as second responder to sick or injured students;

- keep accurate records of students’ attendance (tardies and absences) using the Blackbaud program;

- prepare daily attendance report using the Blackbaud program;

- generate tardy and absentee reports to notify parents;

- generate and maintains student and faculty birthday list;

- track sign-and-return forms for various school notices;

- assist with the preparation of and distribution of school notices;

- schedule routine and emergency maintenance of office machines;

- assist in preparation of materials for summer mailing to parents;

- responsible for all office filing;

- works closely with executive administrative assistant to see that office duties are performed in an efficient and timely manner;

- help faculty and staff to ensure an efficient and productive work environment.

- attend scheduled faculty/staff meetings

Schedule and working hours: During the school year (approximately August 10 – June 1): Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m..

Wages and Benefits: As determined and set forth in a current employment contract signed by the Head of School.
