With inspiring interiors by Kelly Wearstler and culinary offerings in collaboration with MML Hospitality, Austin Proper offers 238 rooms and suites, a dedicated spa and fitness center, and 9,500 square feet of meeting and event spaces, including a rooftop pool deck offering small-batch tequilas and majestic lake views. Located on the Austin Proper Hotel’s 4th Floor, the Verbena Spa and Saracen Gym is an urban getaway that welcomes all with full-service pampering. With a private reception to discuss guests’ needs. The spa also includes a soothing lounge, five spa treatment rooms, a men’s and women’s locker rooms with steam showers, and a brand-new recovery room featuring cold plunge and red-light therapy.

Job Overview

As part of reception team with the Verbena spa you will be the first point of contact for our guests. You'll play the important role of ensuring an exceptional experience from the moment guests enter the Verbena Spa. Your professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail will set the tone for their visit, providing seamless assistance and personalized service.

Key Responsibilities

Warmly greet guests upon arrival, providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Handle check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed promptly.

Coordinate spa services, including massages, facials, and body treatments, based on guest preferences and therapist availability. Utilize our scheduling software to manage appointments effectively and optimize therapist schedules.

Serve as a knowledgeable resource for guests, providing information about available services, spa facilities, and amenities. Address inquiries and requests promptly and courteously, striving to exceed guest expectations at every opportunity.

Handle guest payments for services rendered and retail purchases, while ensuring accuracy in all transactions.

Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining guest records. Keep reception area and retail displays tidy and organized, contributing to a visually appealing environment.

Work closely with spa therapists, spa attendants, and management to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences. Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate schedules, share guest feedback, and address any issues or concerns.

Actively promote spa services, packages, retail products, and memberships to guests, providing recommendations based on their preferences and needs. Maximize revenue opportunities through upselling and cross-selling initiatives.

Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.

Education & Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalency

Minimum one year experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury spa or hospitality environment.

Must be at least 18 years’ old

Must be authorized to work in the United States

Required Skills & Abilities

Exceptional customer service skills with a genuine passion for exceeding guest expectations.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a professional and polished demeanor.

Proficiency in computer systems and software applications, including scheduling and point-of-sale systems.

Ability to multitask efficiently, while maintaining attention to detail.

Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Knowledge of spa treatments, products, and wellness practices is advantageous.
