The opportunity:

The Data Integration and Governance Manager will be responsible for ensuring data management strategy gets implemented in alignment with business objectives.

This role requires a deep understanding of Insurance business processes and technical aspects of data management to address integration challenges and meet data governance targets. Also will lead initiatives to improve data quality, compliance and efficient data utilisation across Markel International. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of the insurance industry and data management technologies to carry out deep dive into data and related processes when required.

What you’ll be doing:

Mandate data management and governance policies and procedures that align with both business needs and regulatory requirements.

Facilitate data ownership and stewardship while ensuring compliance and risk management.

Utilize comprehensive knowledge of insurance processes to address specific data governance needs and challenges within each data domain.

Support programmes to integrate data systems and governance understanding and mitigating implementation challenges associated with data integration.

Work closely with data services and business functions to ensure data integration and models maintain data management requirements.

Develop and maintain metadata repositories to keep metadata accurate for effective data usage across Markel International.

Implement integrated Reference data solution, facilitating change management and issue resolution to support seamless collaboration across all data usage.

Implement practices to supervise data quality, lineage and detect anomalies in real-time using the available tools. Integrate observability tools into data solutions to maintain data health.

Continuous improvement approach to evaluate data maturity and implement standard processes to optimize data value.

Implement unified data management framework, accommodating diverse operational needs across various business unites and locations ensuring efficiency and data integrity.

Maintain ongoing communication with data owners and stewards, conduct data governance working groups as the need arises.

Ensure continuous communication and awareness of data management tools and practices, arrange vital training meeting business function requirements.

Track KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions in improving data management practices.

Our must-haves:

Expertise in data modelling, metadata management, and data governance tools.

Proficiency in data quality and analysis tools, along with a strong understanding of data observability is beneficial.

Problem-solving expertise with a focus on data integrity checks.

Experienced in leading cross-functional teams and managing data-focused projects.

Excellent communication abilities, effective in stakeholder management and training.

Capable of managing multiple priorities and proactive in data issue resolution.

Technical expertise in SQL, Power BI, DQPro, Atacama, Data Management can be advantageous
