Mechanical, Automation and Maintenance Fitting Apprentice

The Apprenticeship Programme is crafted to provide apprentices with the required knowledge, skills and competence to perform as a qualified craftsperson. Under the mentorship of expert Technicians, the Apprentice is primarily responsible to provide a support service to the site as part of the Technical Operations team specializing in Mechanical, Automation and Maintenance fitting activities.

Under the mentorship of expert Technicians, a typical day might look like the following:

Completing all training, both on and off-site phases as per SOLAS Mechanical, Automation and Maintenance Fitting Apprenticeship training programme curriculum.

Providing Mechanical/Automation and Maintenance fitting support to the Technical Operations, Quality Assurance, Automation, Engineering and Operations teams or any other area as the need arises.

Responsible for installation, testing and troubleshooting site mechanical systems, PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controllers), plant and machine diagnostics, and carry out assigned mechanical duties.

Completing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on plant and equipment.

Actioning planned maintenance activities on a range of bioprocess equipment.

Carrying out bench fitting, workshop machine operation, turning duties.

Carrying out Thermal Processes, welding, fabrication and grinding duties.

Complying with site Environmental, Health and Safety policies and strive to maintain an accident-free environment.

Ensuring documentation of maintenance activities to current GxP standards both in paper-based records and the computerized maintenance system.

Following current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs).

To be considered for this opportunity you should have a Leaving Certificate qualification to include a math’s and a science or engineering subject as a minimum. Previous work experience or completion of a pre-apprenticeship course would be viewed as an advantage.
