Sr Staff Medical Device Engineer

Meet has partnered with an industry-leading medical device company based in Southern California looking to expand their Advanced Research and Technology team. Our client focuses on rapid development of diabetes care technology and has an impressive and consistent track record of developing new, innovative technologies. Our client is searching for a Staff Medical Device Engineer to focus on evaluating and establishing the feasibility of next generation technologies and products, lead technical projects that focus on sensor performance. Candidates must have prior project leadership experience, in vivo experience, and early front end research experience.

Role Responsibilities:

Drive the understanding of system level trade-offs and interactions of the sensor with underlying physiology and scientific challenges of new innovations

Design and partner on bench, Pre-Clinical, and Clinical studies as needed for feasibility assessments and build correlations of in vivo to in vitro methodologies

Lead diverse cross-functional teams and work cross-functionally with R&D, new markets, and external partners to develop and characterize new product development efforts

Identify and characterize critical parameters of sensor development across early prototype to pilot scale manufacturing with a focus on accuracy and scalability

Required Skills/Experience:

MS degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.

8+ years of R&D experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or medical device industry

Strong experience studying device physiological interactions and expertise in studying foreign body response

Demonstrated Technical Project Team leadership skills, experience designing and leading bench, Pre-Clinical, and Clinical studies for feasibility assessments

Experience running tests, driving root cause evaluations, and applying Six Sigma principles to gain an understanding of critical parameters for performance

Experience with experimental design, statistics, DOE techniques, data analysis methods and software (JMP or MATLAB preferred)

Ability to run self-directed projects, project teams, manage timelines, transfer technology and execute projects in R&D environment.
