Schedule: Full-time

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Residence Life, Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) will provide leadership for an undergraduate residential area. This is a full-time, 12 month, live-in position. The RLC supervises the operations of a residential housing facility that will be home to approximately 600-1000 students. Areas of responsibility include supervision of undergraduate and graduate staff, administration, customer service, student support, on-call duty, and crisis management. This position will be responsible for helping create, implement, and evaluate community curriculum.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

STAFF SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT

Supervise staff of 16-27 Resident Advisors and 1-2 Graduate Resident Directors

Provide comprehensive training & ongoing development for student staff as part of a department-wide training program

Facilitate staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with the student staff

Conduct formal performance evaluations of student staff to identify strengths and areas of improvement

Coordinate individual goal setting and action plans with staff

STUDENT SUPPORT AND OUTREACH

Manage and coordinate ongoing relationships with students in need of resources to support holistic student wellness

Provide basic counseling in personal safety, conflict resolution, roommate conflicts, academic success, etc.

Provide outreach and follow up on mental health issues with referrals to appropriate campus resources

Work closely with campus partners to identify students in need of support and outreach

Participate in an on-call duty rotation and severe weather coordinator

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Support programming efforts utilizing Residence Life residential curriculum to meet the diverse needs of the facility’s population

Initiate ongoing interactions with students as well as connect students with campus and community resources that enhance their academic and co-curricular experience

Maintain a presence and visibility on campus, including participation in events and dining in campus facilities

STUDENT CONDUCT

Oversee student conduct processes in residence halls including serving as an initial review hearing officer, adjudicating cases, and assigning educational sanctions.

Assist RA staff with incident response and documentation

Clearly communicate, interpret, and enforce department and university policies to staff and students

Engage in restorative conversations and promote restorative values in response to conflict situations

Provide programs and other proactive education interventions to minimize behavioral issues

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with Housing Operations and Assignments to ensure the smooth operation of residence halls, including the opening and closing of residential facilities, health and safety inspections, and resident room changes

Participate in Departmental, Division, and University committees

Maintain a flexible schedule of availability, including after hours and weekends, to meet the needs of students

Develops and administers procedures including accounting, purchasing, and payroll

Maintain records (student files, inventory, etc.)

Dialogue and collaborate with various campus partners

Regularly communicate and advocate for residents' issues and needs

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Equivalency/ Substitution: Will accept 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft office

Ability to work independently and with a team.

Ability to problem solve.

Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.

Reads and interprets routine written materials, instructions and e-mails.

Communicates effectively; orally and/or in writing.

License: Valid Driver's License. Employees who drive any university vehicle or their own personal vehicle while performing an assigned duty by his/her supervisor must have a valid driver's license. It is the employee's responsibility to tell his/her supervisor if the license is invalid, or that you do not have one, and explain they cannot drive.

Departmental Preference:

Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services or related field.

Residence hall supervisor experience; including education programming oversight.

Demonstrated experience with crisis management and/or emergency response.

Knowledge of Roompact, StarRez and Maxient software, or similar tools, preferred.
