Overview: As a therapist at our Mental Health Residential Treatment Center, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive therapeutic services to individuals with complex mental health needs in a residential setting. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients in a supportive environment, facilitating their healing and empowering them to achieve long-term wellness and stability.

Responsibilities:

Individual and Group Therapy: Conduct individual therapy sessions with residents to address underlying mental health concerns, trauma histories, and interpersonal challenges. Lead group therapy sessions focused on topics such as emotion regulation, coping skills development, and interpersonal effectiveness, fostering a sense of community and mutual support among residents.

Clinical Assessment and Treatment Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of residents' mental health histories, symptoms, strengths, and treatment goals. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, integrating evidence-based interventions and trauma-informed approaches to address residents' complex needs.

Crisis Intervention and Support: Provide crisis intervention and stabilization support for residents experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms, emotional dysregulation, or behavioral crises. Collaborate with clinical staff and external resources to ensure residents' safety, well-being, and access to appropriate levels of care as needed.

Family Therapy and Psychoeducation: Engage with residents' families or support systems to provide family therapy sessions, psychoeducation, and support around issues such as communication, boundaries, and family dynamics. Facilitate family meetings to enhance family involvement in residents' treatment and promote a supportive environment for ongoing recovery.

Collaborative Treatment Planning: Work closely with other members of the treatment team, including psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and direct care staff, to coordinate holistic care and address residents' multidimensional needs. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to review resident progress, adjust treatment plans, and ensure continuity of care across all levels of treatment.

Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of professional practice, including confidentiality and boundaries, in all interactions with residents and their families.

Professional Development: Stay informed about current research, best practices, and emerging trends in mental health treatment and trauma recovery. Pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance clinical skills, maintain licensure, and uphold professional competency in working with diverse populations and trauma survivors.

Qualifications:

Master's or Doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field from an accredited institution.

Experience providing therapy to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, trauma histories, and co-occurring disorders in a residential or inpatient setting.

Strong clinical assessment skills, including the ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health conditions and conduct suicide or harm risk assessments.

Proficiency in evidence-based therapies for mental health treatment, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused interventions, and attachment-based approaches.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport, build therapeutic alliances, and engage residents in the treatment process.

Cultural competence, sensitivity to diversity, and a commitment to providing trauma-informed care and social justice advocacy in all aspects of service delivery.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and effectively communicate with staff, residents, families, and external stakeholders.Company Description
