Summary:

The Director of Technology Innovation and User Experience will provide strategic leadership and visionary direction to transform the school division's technology landscape. This leader will foster a culture of continuous innovation, collaboration, and exceptional user experience throughout the division. The successful candidate will champion both instructional technology integration to enhance learning and oversee robust technology support systems that ensure seamless technology operations for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement the division's strategic technology plan, aligning with overall educational goals and objectives.

Identify, research, and implement emerging technologies with the potential to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative operations.

Oversee budget development, allocation, and management to ensure the efficient use of technology resources.

Lead initiatives to promote and expand equitable access to technology for all students and staff.

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for technology initiatives and track progress towards goals.

Instructional Technology & Integration

Partner with curriculum and instruction departments to design innovative technology-integrated learning experiences.

Create robust professional development programs to empower educators to effectively leverage digital tools in the classroom.

Provide leadership to Technology Innovation and Integration group, including support and mentorship for Technology Innovation Coaches.

Identify and pilot new educational technologies, leading the thoughtful adoption of effective solutions.

Technology Support

Provide leadership to Technology Support and User Experience group, including, device deployment and maintenance, classroom technologies, inventory management, and support.

Ensure the timely resolution of technology issues and excellent customer service to all stakeholders.

Develop and implement proactive maintenance plans and adhere to cybersecurity best practices to safeguard data and systems.

Streamline procurement and deployment processes for student and staff devices.

Collaboration & Communication

Foster strong collaborative relationships with school leaders, teachers, staff, students, parents, and community partners.

Conduct regular needs assessments and gather data and feedback to drive continuous improvement in technology services.

Clearly communicate technology initiatives, policies, and procedures to the school community.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Educational Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a leadership role within educational technology or a comparable technology-focused environment.

Demonstrated success in leading technology transformations and innovations in an educational setting.

Proven project management and budget management skills.

Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and leadership capabilities.

Strong understanding of instructional design principles and the role of technology in supporting student learning.

Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Passion for staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in education.
