Job Description SummarySarasota Art Museum’s social media platforms are used to inform, educate, communicate, and promote the Museum to external and internal constituents, including Museum Members; students, faculty, staff, alumni of Ringling College, Cross College Alliance, OLLI, and The Studios at SAM; donors; and the general public.

Students in this role will assist in building and maintaining the social media presence of Sarasota Art Museum through content planning, creation, and execution in collaboration with marketing and design. Content will also extend to the Museum’s Bistro, SHOP, educational events, and programming.

In this position, the student will work with the Digital and Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager to create content for the Museum’s accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and will assist in content creation creating a biweekly content calendar for review with the social media manager and Digital and Graphic designer 2 weeks in advance. Content creation includes written content as well as multimedia content (photographs, videography, graphics, etc.)

Students need to be able to work up to 20 hours a week, evening and/or weekend work may be required throughout the summer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create engaging content that fosters education and inclusivity and is in alignment with Museum brand standards (visual and editorial).

Research and present new methods of engaging stakeholders online.

Actively promote and support Sarasota Art Museum’s social media accounts by sharing, commenting, and otherwise engaging with content.

Host special programs, such as “Instagram Challenges,” as requested.

Take photos and videos at events.

Stay current with social media trends, tools, and applications.

Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Experience with various social media channels including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines.

Must be able to commute to and from Sarasota Art Museum as needed.

Must exercise good judgment in creating content and engaging with content online in alignment with the Museum’s brand and communication standards.

The ability to interact with Museum staff, visitors, and students in a courteous and professional manner.

Experience with shooting and editing video content for social media.

Effective written and oral communication skills, including a strong command of the English language and attention to detail.

Education and Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be enrolled at Ringling College of Art and Design.

Must be active on social media and passionate about Sarasota Art Museum/Ringing College.

Know how to use Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn

Understand how to take and edit video and photographs

On-camera experience, or willingness to learn, preferred
