Responsible for transporting students to and from school, home, and field trips
Safely drive the assigned vehicle and obey all traffic laws
Transport students according to the schedule received and instructions given by the Associate Director
Assist students to and from the van
Assist students with their bags and other belongings
Ensure that all passengers are safely secured with the necessary restraint systems and/or seatbelts
Conduct daily vehicle inspections as outlined on the checklist and report any needed repairs to the Associate Director immediately
Keep accurate records as required by the Associate Director and SOC policies
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the vehicle inside and out
Qualifications/Skills Required:
Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screenings and while employed pass random drug and alcohol screenings
Must possess a valid Ohio Drivers License that is in good standing
Must be 25 years or older
Must maintain a good driving record
Must have the ability and knowledge to safely operate a passenger van
Must have the ability to assist children on and off of the van
Must know passenger assistance procedures
Must have the ability to secure all passengers in the vehicle using the proper restraint systems. This requires bending, stooping, kneeling, and stretching
Must have the physical ability to help students carry school bags or supplies
High School Diploma or equivalent
Proficient spelling and grammar
Attention to Detail Verbal & Written Communication
Ability to work as a team or alone if necessary
Demonstrate kindness and patience with children and families
Ability to multi-task and work in stressful situations

Save Our Children (SOC) is a non-profit, 501(C) (3) organization that was formed out of the youth ministries program at Asbury United Methodist Church, the oldest African American Church in the City of Elyria. The organization has maintained a strong
commitment to the well-being of children and teens in the community for 40 years. Save Our Children was incorporated in June of 1996 and received its tax-exempt status
from the Internal Revenue Service in June of 1996. The mission of Save Our Children is
to improve literacy, promote academic excellence, and cultivate leadership in at-risk
youth in the community.
