Summary of Job:

The Product Engineer will fill a key role within the Global Product Engineering organization. This position will support various projects and adhoc deliverables required by the Supply Chain including but not limited to launch activities for new products in same unit repair such as tear downs, work instructions, tool and parts development, assessments of capabilities, process improvements, time and yield studies, support of OEM and 3rd party repair tooling, quality assurance activities, data collection, analysis and various other duties as assigned.

The position will drive results by contributing to collaborative data driven decisions, solid scientific methodologies, excellent documentation, project planning, execution, and analytics through collaboration with both Asurion and UBIF stakeholders. This individual will perform activities such as device tear down analysis, data collection, data analysis, process development, research, test method analysis and document preparation.

The candidate must be customer centric, self-sufficient and be able to balance the demands of delivering results in the short term while also supporting Asurion’s mid and long-range goals and technology model. The candidate will acknowledge gaps while evaluating existing processes. Then support the implementation of innovative and creative solutions to improve business performance.

If not already well versed, the candidate must learn and be able to provide subject matter expertise around core quality tools including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, advanced quality planning, and control plans. The candidate will support quality activities during project planning and throughout the program life cycle. To promote collaboration, the candidate will participate in Cross-Functional/Global teams that support the successful launch of products and projects through work efforts and interactions, the candidate will do their best to bring new ideas, grow and perform their best work.

This role will be key to help design and implement Asurion Best in Class processes that ensure quality and foster a strong quality culture.

Duties & Responsibilities:

tear down and evaluations to develop repair assessments, tips and guidance for both corporate and technicians to complete tasks related to end customer service.

moderate design tasks related to projects, systems, components, or processes.

portions of project documents, edits specifications, ensures accurate bill of materials (BOM's), attach rates, and/or work instructions of product hardware.

design investigations, experiments, data analysis, testing and research.

process development, research, test method analysis and development.

historical database for repair information of previous devices and any necessary data that needs to be tracked for future assessments.

maintenance of learning management system that is used to communicate work instructions, troubleshooting tips and other learning materials to technicians.

support in the resolution of product related engineering issues.

in end-to-end order process, fulfilment, supplier readiness, component and/or supplier qualification.

in Cross-Functional teams to manage deliverables for successful launch of product.

Skills/Knowledge:

Able to collect data, analyze data, and make recommendations based on that analysis.

Developing skills to manage projects and succeed with guidance from supervisor.

Able to articulate simple concepts then support preparation of presentation to share with colleagues and other departments.

Education Guidelines:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Discipline.

Experience Guidelines:

Previous experience working in an engineering role or equivalent.
