Participate in design and technical reviews, ensuring basic metallurgical principles and related simulation results are correctly interpreted for product development and manufacturing purposes, including material selection and processes (welding, heat treatment, casting, forging)

Run metallurgical laboratory with all the related daily duties and responsibilities

Ensures product designs support optimal manufacturing methods and processes while maintaining product function, from a metallurgical expertise perspective.

Recognize and lead technical problem resolution from a metallurgical perspective using problem solving techniques such as 8-D, IS/IS-NOT, fishbone, Red X and 6-Panels

Work closely with global advanced engineering teams on next-generation material performance requirements, for light-weighting, cost reduction, noise management, etc.

Research, plan, and guide advanced metallurgical technologies applicable to next generation product/component designs, working with universities, tech-start-ups, in-house specialists, and well established commercial companies in the areas of material selection, heat treatment, casting, forging, coatings, peening/superfinishing, laser welding, lab equipment, material characterization, etc.

Requirements:

M.Sc. in Materials Engineering or Material Science (PhD preferred) and 10 to 15 years of product development or engineering experience directly in the metallurgical field, with demonstrated results; Bachelor degree in the same field and demonstrated, exceptional similar experience can also be considered.

Detailed knowledge and understanding of main principals of Physical Metallurgy of ferrous and non-ferrous materials;

5 to 10 years of direct, hands-on experience in steel components failure analysis;

Hands on laser welding and heat treat experience from both a practical and metallurgical side is highly desirable, with detailed knowledge of key technical considerations;be prepared to discuss knowledge/experience a knowledgeable interview team in this technical area.

Some practical knowledge of cast iron and aluminum casting processes and related Physical Metallurgy principals;

Thorough knowledge and ability to find and interpret engineering material properties;

Hands on experience in metallurgical sample preparation, and basic laboratory functions.

Experience in interpreting microstructures of ferrous (including cast irons) and aluminum alloys;

Practical knowledge and ability to do studies using SEM, FTIR, and other analytical techniques including expert interpretation of results;

High level of communication skills - verbal, interpersonal and written;

Ability to travel both domestically and abroad.

Minimum 5 years experience directly supervising, advising, mentoring and/or developing MET engineers and technicians, with a proven track record

Strong leadership skills with high self-motivation and drive

Ability to provide technical mentorship to other engineers
