Our client, a forward thinking architectural signage company located in Santa Clara, CA is seeking to add a Permit Technician to their team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the SIGNAGE & BRANDING or CONSTRUCTION industries. This role is NOT remote. The tech will be required to travel to their office daily.
Job Purpose:
To assist the Sales, Project Management Teams together with the Permit Department in securing permits for the projects sold in order to manufacture and install the signs. It is a violation to install any exterior signs without a City of County permit with the exception if the project is a State School or falls in an area that is not governed by City or County. If it is a State school the State Architect must review project if necessary.
Each exterior sign installed in the city or county requires a permit. All permits require an approval from both the planning and building departments. In many instances other departments may require reviewing the plans i.e. Fire Department, Engineering/Traffic Department and/or Public Works.
Key Responsibilities:
Research, investigate, and interpret city and county codes
Determine criteria needed for each project
Oversee all city business licenses by collecting, tracking, and managing renewals and keeping proper documentation
Review, prepare, submit, and receive permit packages in accordance with jurisdictional requirements
Coordinate payment and reimbursement of permit fees according to company guidelines
Perform data entry and coordinate routing of various permits and plans; use specialized database/permit tracking programs
Process permits by copying, scanning, and filing
Must be highly organized and process the flexibility to adjust to changing workload volume
Respond and assist in the resolution of permit related inquiries and complaints.
Qualifications and Requirements
Microsoft Office knowledge and skills: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Must have a working vehicle and clean driving record
Alpha and numeric data entry skills
Standard office administrative practices and procedures, including the use of standard office equipment.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
