The Senior AV Engineer is a dynamic role within VersaTech’s AV Division with the purpose of delivering superior customer service and execution in multiple phases of the AV project and product lifecycle. In this role, you will have the ability to support innovation and solutioning in working with customers to recommend AV systems and technologies through design and engineering functions. Additionally, this role will support project execution activities, providing hands-on expertise in programming and commissioning of AV systems based on customer requirements and best practices. Finally, this senior member of the team will act in a Tier 3 capacity to support complex troubleshooting of AV systems as needed. This individual is an accomplished technical leader and self-manager who excels at customer service, staff mentorship, and displays excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills. Proven background in AV technology, project management, operations, leadership, and strategic delivery.

Your Work Falls into Four Primary Categories:

AV Design and Engineering (40%)

Conducts needs analysis in order to develop ‘Good, Better, Best’ solutions for current and potential customers.

Utilize AutoCAD and other design tools to develop, review, and deliver AV Design drawings for current and future AV projects/solutions.

Provide technical guidance and support to installation and programming teams to ensure systems are installed and configured properly

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the AV industry, and make recommendations for system upgrades and improvements

Pre-Sales Support (20%)

Serve as the technical expert when developing AV solutions, ensuring compatibility of equipment as well as AV best practices.

Work closely with the sales team to understand client needs and develop customized solutions that meet those needs

Develop and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to prospective clients as needed

Provide technical support during the RFP process, including responding to technical questions and developing technical proposals

Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, product development, and support, to ensure solutions are technically feasible and meet client needs

Assist the sales team with developing and executing sales strategies, including identifying new business opportunities and upsell/cross-sell opportunities

Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and make recommendations for product improvements and updates

AV Project Management and Execution (20%)

Utilizing the PMBOK’s Project Management Processes, responsible for planning and execution of project scope and deliverables.

Collaborate and coordinate with internal AV Program team to allocate personnel, plan and track costs from project initiation through closure.

Projects will be focused on outcomes from both AV Solutions of current and future work.

Support Project QA and provide on-site support for programming, installation, etc. as needed on a per project basis.

Support internal VersaTech initiatives as it relates to product development based on new and emerging technologies in IT and AV.

Provides mentorship to other VersaTech employees as it relates to AV technology, troubleshooting, programming, design, etc.

AV Service Expertise (20%)

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the AV industry, and make recommendations for system upgrades and improvements

Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electronic equipment such as audio, video, sound, lighting, and projection systems, as well as other systems as required.

May be responsible for installing, terminating, and optimizing the cabling, associated devices, computers, digital technology, and commercial off the shelf technologies as required by scope and design.

Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, repairs, and maintenance.

Responsible for troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Work directly with customers to investigate, troubleshoot, and diagnose technical product problems

Provide written customer-ready documentation of all analysis performed with root cause/corrective actions identified.

Conducts and oversees scheduled PMI Inspections and provides thorough documentation.

Coordinates with VersaTech’s internal operations staff to develop Service Ticket estimates for approval, and manages tickets through completion/closure.

Engages with vendors regarding replacement parts and warranty information as needed.

Develops SOPs and User Guides for internal and external training and end-user support as needed.

Thorough knowledge of protocols and AV design, including signal flow, H.323, H.264, SIP, WebRTC, and H.239 duo-video, video bridging and gateways, and applicable platforms, including WebEx, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams

Networking experience with setup and servicing commercial-grade networking devices: Waps, Routers, WiFi bridge, Managed switches, and VLANs

Excellent knowledge of networking addressing schemes and network integration. Experience in IP cameras, IP access control. Must have experience in PTZ camera installation and servicing.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of 10+ years of experience supporting A/V systems and digital signage solutions

Must be Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) and CTS-I certified for this position.

Technical Degree or equivalent experience

AVIXA, Crestron, Extron, BiAmp, or AMX knowledge preferred; certifications a plus!

Utilize AutoCAD and other design tools to develop, review, and deliver AV Design drawings

Experience working with multiple departments and managing multiple tasks concurrently

Driver’s license required, safe driving record

Clearance: Ability to attain and retain a suitability clearance
