Job Summary: The Safety Representative (III) is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and maintaining various Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) initiatives, including training programs and compliance measures. Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Safety Representative will collaborate closely with other Safety personnel as an integral team member. The Safety Representative will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.

Responsibilities:

Manage and support HSE regulatory requirements as mandated by company and governmental agencies, including DOT regulations.

Monitor workplaces and work activities to assure safe work procedures and practices are being followed.

Develop and promote a culture that delivers safe workers and a safe work place.

Implement accident prevention activities as directed or needed.

Act as the technical resource in respective Operating area for HSE and DOT related issues.

Conduct safety orientation and training in a timely, professional manner. Deliver quality presentations for large groups for extended periods.

Conduct accident investigations on time, including documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.

Assist in injury/illness case management. Avoid injuries becoming OSHA recordable.

Perform safety audits and provide reports. Serve as a catalyst to ensure compliance.

Assist in HSE policy development and implementation.

Assist Operating area management in executing safety responsibilities and in making safety efforts successful.

Recommend safety improvement/accident prevention methods.

Work with Operating area management to integrate HSE into daily work procedures.

Other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager and Safety Director.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

Bachelors’ degree in Safety a plus.

Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the utility field.

Minimum of 4 years’ safety experience in the construction industry.

CSP certification, CUSP certification a plus.

Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA laws and regulations.

Current valid driver’s license.

Able to travel regularly with overnights as needed. Flexibility to work additional hours/weekends as required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel & Power Point for training & presentation development.

Proficiency in using various computer systems, software applications, to make/post/send training videos.
