Job Description:

This position will work closely with attorneys in the Seattle office handling civil litigation cases including client reporting, document review/redaction, expert retention, medical records review and retrieval, research, trial preparation and any other duties necessary to support the attorneys’ needs. The paralegal will perform a broad range of case related duties under supervision as outlined below.

Primary Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Monitor cases and track court and discovery deadlines.

Perform case-related research and witness investigation.

Administer requests for records; contact various facilities (medical, employment, public, etc.).

Review discovery documents and records, and prepare case summaries.

Manage large volume discovery utilizing e-discovery software, to include database setup, organization, review, and production.

Assist with drafting and preparation of discovery requests and responses, pleadings, including answers to complaints, and motions.

Draft and update client status reports.

Trial preparation including assisting with preparation of trial exhibits and drafting ER904 statements, witness and exhibit lists, deposition designations, and pre-trial motions including motions in limine.

Correspond with clients, opposing counsel and court clerks.

Communicate effectively with attorneys and legal assistants to ensure that all work is being completed in a timely fashion.

Assist with overflow work from other paralegals as needed.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Previous experience and intermediate knowledge of E-discovery software including Everlaw, Relativity, Exclipse, and Nextpoint.

Experience using docket search databases (PACER, LexisNexis, Pohlman, Westlaw) etc.

Previous law firm experience (3+ years)

Compensation:

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
