Job Summary

The Senior Scientist will maintain the FIB-SEM microscope, train new users, and develop workflows to streamline the data processing of cellular cryo-electron tomography.

Essential Job Duties

Set up and maintain the FIB-SEM microscope.

Train new users, including other staff members, students, and postdoctoral scholars.

Develop workflow for cryoET data processing while working on specific biological projects. Examples include flagella and plant cell walls.

May design, fabricate/construct test instrumentation and/or apparatus required for special research projects.

May coordinate the ordering, processing, restocking of lab supplies, equipment, animals and maintain general organization of lab.

May maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment and/or instruments, and/or schedule external engineer repair of the instrument.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant scientific research experience with cryoEM.

Must have prior experience in cryoEM for sample preparation, data collection, and data processing.

Must be diligent and responsible for their own work.

Must have excellent communication and customer service skills, working with faculty, postdocs, students, and research staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. preferred.
