Job Description

Plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors products through the complete production cycle to meet on-time delivery requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, coordinates with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain and interfaces with engineering and program management as well as external customers. Ensures availability of materials and labor to meet production requirements and delivery commitments. Works to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Production Planning:

Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand forecasts, production capacity, and inventory levels.

Collaborate with various departments, including sales, operations, and procurement, to gather relevant information for accurate production planning.

Adjust production schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand or unexpected issues.

Manage the work order process to include revision control, material availability, work order release, start and completion date maintenance, material allocation requests.

Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.

Materials Planning:

Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials and components to ensure availability for production.

Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and negotiate terms for procurement.

Optimize inventory levels to minimize carrying costs while ensuring materials are readily available for production needs.

Demand Forecasting:

Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to understand market trends and customer demand.

Use historical data and market analysis to develop accurate demand forecasts for production planning.

Collaboration and Communication:

Communicate production schedules, material requirements, and potential issues to relevant stakeholders.

Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth execution of production plans and address any challenges that may arise.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify areas for improvement in production and materials planning processes.

Implement efficiency measures to optimize resource utilization and reduce lead times.

Quality and Compliance:

Ensure that production plans comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Work with quality assurance teams to address any quality-related issues in the production process.

Reporting and Analysis:

Generate regular reports on production performance, materials utilization, and inventory levels.

Conduct analysis to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field.

Proven experience in production planning, materials management, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

Must have basic knowledge and ability for interpretation of engineering drawings and documentation used in the fabrication and production of metal products.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Capable of generating moderately complex spreadsheets and reports utilizing Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, Vlookups, etc.).

Must have an understanding of SAP Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and experience with material requisitioning, purchasing, stocking, tracking, and inventory control.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in using relevant software and tools for production and materials planning.
