We are looking for our next great nurse to join us for a summer of fun here at Camp Ponkapoag in the Blue Hills reservation in Canton. This position will provide health care for all campers/staff and manage all aspects of our infirmary. With a great support team behind you and the local hospital within 10 minutes of our camp, this position is ideal for those looking to make the most of their summer here at beautiful Camp Ponkapoag. This is a great position for school nurses or nurses who are accustomed to working with children!

Key Responsibilities

Keeps safety of campers as the first priority. Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with campers, parents, and other camp personnel at all times.

By personal example, helps interpret the quality of YMCA values to campers, parents and staff. Must be a positive role model.

Keeps daily attendance records of the infirmary and stays alert to staff and camper needs.

Dispenses medication at proper times.

Ensures health and safety of campers and staff.

Communicates specific camper health concerns (allergies, special diets) to staff.

First aid for minor injuries.

Medical record keeping.

Liaising with local doctors, hospitals and pharmacies.

Communicates with parents as needed.

Accompany sick/injured campers or staff to hospital.

Participate in camp activities or events.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education and Experience

RN or LPN Degree

ER and/or pediatric unit experience preferred but not required.

Skills and Competencies

Ability to adapt to different environments and schedules

Team player who is responsible and hard working

Good bedside manner, friendly and personable

Strong assessment abilities

Prior experience with children (does not have to be in a medical capacity)

Willing to obtain appropriate state licensure
