Job Purpose:

To manage the Engineering aspects at the Manufacturing/Packaging Departments/ including special projects and day to day activities related to Maintenance of machinery, services such as electricity/water/telephones/building and Environment Health & Safety activities of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

To ensure proper maintenance of all machinery & equipment in the factory through established planned maintenance and overhauling programs where appropriate in order to optimize performance and minimize machine/equipment down time and focus all activities to comply with GSE/QMS/ESH guidelines.

To liaise with production & QA Managers and arrange for the uninterrupted supply of energy, water of the required degree of purity, steam etc.

To review existing plant, machinery & equipment with regard to age condition, capacity and submit proposals to the Site Director for repairing, upgrading, overhauling as well as procurement of new plant, machinery and equipment in consultation with Manufacturing & QA managers, taking into consideration current and future needs of the company.

To ensure availability of spares and accessories that are required to service/repair, machinery/equipment in the factory, at optimum levels within an agreed Inventory policy of such items.

To liaise with Manufacturing & QA managers to provide the environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, lighting, air flow, pressure differentials and other services as required carrying out various operations.

Plan, direct and guide department staff and other staff to achieve optimum performance of machinery and achieve departmental objectives.

Establish and follow up planned training and development plans for maintenance staff in consultation with the Site Director and recommend recruitment of suitable staff when appropriate.

Identify inactive or redundant machinery, equipment, accessories, spares etc. and arrange for disposal of same in consultation with Site Director.

Prepare capital expenditure budget in conjunction with the Site Director and other relevant department managers, considering present and future production demands.

To design and specific plant. Machinery & equipment as and when required for ongoing operations and for capital projects in consultation with Manufacturing & QA Managers and to ensure that projects are executed within optimum costs and within agreed time schedules.

To oversee all new projects undertaken by the company both about planning and implementation in consultation with the Technical Director and where necessary, with GQA, ETCM, & EHS

Report progresses made regularly and agree with Site Director or any major changes to capital projects and prepare supplementary capital proposals where necessary.

To be responsible for the Factory Site and the buildings there on, about security, upkeep, cleanliness, and surface drainage.

Establish budgets for all maintenance related activities within laid down Haleon budgeting and planning procedures and to generally operate within such budgets.

Carry out Validation work on all items/processes coming under the control of the engineering Department.

Drive Operational Excellence projects undertaken in the Engineering Department and assist other departments where necessary.

Ensure successful management/administration of CAMMS system across SC SL.

Conduct Independent Business Monitoring Audit

As the duty holder for electrical safety/machinery safety, establish and drive the program through all stages, from diagnostic and training through to closure of gaps. Conduct trainings and implement complete program.

EHS RESPONSIBILITIES & COMMITMENT

Responsible for supporting supply chain lead on the process of developing EHSS policy for supply chain Sri Lanka.

Responsible to ensure that risks and impacts over respective business area is identified and have control or influence are properly assessed and managed.

Ensure to communicate the EHS risk profile and all other EHS related communications to their respective department employees.

Ensure the action planning, implementation and maintaining the effectiveness of controls relevant to all EHS risks identified in respective area.

Responsible to increase the EHS competency of all team members of responsible teams with the involvement of site EHS department.

Responsible to investigate all EHS adverse events happened in respective area of scope promptly to identify the causes and take corrective and preventive actions.

Responsible to ensure respective area’s Management Monitoring is done to verify the adherence to written standards and controls.

Responsible to monitor performance against the established EHS indicators for respective departments periodically.

Responsible to carry out Corrective and preventive actions to address adverse trends in performance monitoring data.

Responsible to help supply chain lead and Senior EHS Manager in preparation of site for regulatory audit and L3 audits.

Education:

Minimum - Engineering Degree, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Masters and CEng status is welcome

At least 10 years Managerial/Industrial experience preferably in food or pharmaceutical industry

Should demonstrate sound knowledge on Business, Engineering and EHS standards in large scale manufacturing environment.

Should be able to demonstrate and apply IT skills in supporting an effective Engineering and EHS activity controlling system.

Should balance People and Task management skills.

Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience Required:

Technical Leadership- Experience in a site-based engineering

Project Management experience

Experience in establishing and maintaining high standards of GMP, Safety, Environment & Occupational Hygiene

Previous experience of acting as a coach or mentor to unlock people's potential.
