Position Summary

The role sits within the Corporate Tax and VAT team, within the wider Tax and Financial Control team. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team working to ensure that the Samsung Electronics business continues to be a compliant and responsible tax payer!

Role and Responsibilities

Your Key Responsibilities:

- Work closely with Finance, Logistics, Marketing and the European finance and legal teams on understanding the correct VAT treatments and accounting for business transactions relating to selling goods, including cross border supplies.

- Actively manage relationships with external VAT advisers and knowing when external advice should be sought. Also, ensuring advice is received on time and monitoring costs against agreed budgets.

- Manage queries from HMRC on all VAT related matters. The VAT manager should be the main point of contact for HMRC on VAT matters, and should proactively manage ongoing discussions to ensure we are maintaining regular communications with HMRC.

- Provide technical support where needed to the VAT analyst, and across the business.

- Monitor and identify VAT opportunities and risks for the business, proposing solutions, and delivering these solutions within a suitable timeframe.

- Prepare and review the VAT returns for the UK and Irish VAT registrations for SEUK Ltd, with support from the VAT analyst.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

- CTA qualified or significant indirect tax experience.

- Experience with indirect tax implications in relation to selling goods, including cross border supplies.

- Sound knowledge of UK VAT legislation and compliance issues.

- Knowledge of accountancy for VAT purposes.

- Ability to build relationships to support teams with a variety of business issues, including explaining VAT implications to non-tax specialists.

- Ability to meet deadlines.

- Must be able to work without close supervision.

What does success look like?

Managing the VAT compliance obligations of SEUK.

Identifying opportunities and implementing changes in order to reduce VAT risk across SEUK.
