Main purpose of the role
The Director, Property & Facilities Management reports directly into a South African Divisional MD, and has additional accountability and responsibility to South African and Global Head Office senior executives.
It is a multi-disciplinary role, with material accountability and responsibility ensuring business continuity for DSV South Africa at the three DSV Parks, successful completion of strategic projects, and managing various financial budgets.
The role consist of the following three main pillars, mainly across the three DSV Park sites, but not limited to them:
- Special Projects:
o Manage lifecycle from concept designs, budget development, landlord & council approvals, commercial & contractual agreements, project setup & go-live, construction/implementation, commissions & handover, to close-out
o Design & guide all different stakeholders to ensure an optimized, feasible and cost effective “design/solution/project” adhering to internal and external polices & regulations
o Engage with various external professional teams to maintain compliance certification of relevant standards and insurances
o Throughout all the requests & projects, maintain overall DSV South Africa strategic objectives and ensure alignment
o Examples of projects:
Leasehold improvements
Compliance upgrades
Environmental (green installations such as BESS & PV solutions)
Capacity improvements
New facility development
- Capital & operational expenditure budgets:
o Maintain & apply tight financial controls to ensure budgets are adhered to
o Develop annual budgets during budget cycle
o Manage vendor increases
o Develop special project budgets
o PO lifecycle management
o Project budget vs actual cost reconciliations
- Facilities Management (repair & maintenance):
o Responsible for facilities management teams/staff per site
o Overall accountability for facilities management, preventive maintenance & repairs
o Engaging with landlords to manage lease agreements, ensuring each party’s upkeep of maintenance responsibilities are up to date & resolving latent defect claims
o Continuous improvement initiatives
o Maintain compliance certification

The Capital & Operational Expenditure Budgets activities are defined by the Special Projects and Facilities Management pillars respectively, with below typical tasks:
Scrutinizing quotes with value engineering where required
Expenditure approvals for POs
Webcost invoice and coding review for approvals of vendor payments
Budget review & reporting
Budget reconciliations
Annual SLA negotiations

Facilities Management typical tasks are more generic, and can be summarized as follows:
