Role Overview:

The Management Information Desk (MID) provides a central hub for key business analysis in the APAC region. Key tasks include preparation of feasibilities for new hires and exiting employees, restructuring and scenario analysis, new business investment proposals, management of hiring pipeline and the standardization of process and procedures to ensure informed decision making and best possible regional performance.

The role of the Commercial Analyst – MID APAC is to prepare timely and accurate management reports to assist the Head of MID, APAC COO and APAC GB Head with Commercial decision making. The individual needs to have strong attention to detail, be able to prioritise and manage workload, and be passionate about pursuing a career in commercial analysis and reporting. Prior experience working with a ‘Inter-Dealer-Broker’, Trading Bank, or ‘Other trading business’ is not necessary, but an interest in financial markets is recommended. The individual will need to adopt a structured and investigative approach to their workload and be able to present all information in a clear, comprehensive manner, both verbal and written.

The individual will report to the Head of MID – APAC but will field requests from the APAC GB Head, APAC COO and regional MD’s directly from time-to-time. Tasks need to be completed in a timely and accurate manner and the individual will be assessed on the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of responses.

The role will require ability to learn on the job and build a strong analytical skillset over time.

Role Responsibilities:

Provide timely and accurate contract summary and P&L models for new hires, renewals and employee exits (the CRF process). Present the financial impact to desk, business, and region to assist MD, COO and CEO decision making.

Maintain the CRF tracking file and be able to advise on the status of CRF’s at any point in the approval process. Produce statistics on CRFs in aggregated fashion across multiple metrics at the request of APAC MID Head, APAC GB Head.

Work with HR to ensure contracts are prepared in accordance with CRF guidelines and chase up signed contracts in timely fashion. Ensure that MID have a complete database of contracts for easy access.

Prepare post-hire performance analysis and communicate to management at set intervals after their start date so that appropriate action can be taken.

Administer and manage the APAC regional hiring pipeline. Have a strong working knowledge of contractual terms and assist with modelling and analysis needed for negotiations.

Refresh and send monthly management packs to MDs in APAC. Work with finance to ensure the GL is closed prior to refresh and ensure regional consistency of key performance indicator metrics.

Prepare Executive committee packs for APAC and Group meetings that take place monthly. Ensure insightful commentary and analysis.

Maintain datasets and databases used by MID for reporting and analysis.

Prepare accurate and timely adhoc analysis as requested by manager, APAC GB Head, COO and MDs.

Build strong working relationships with MD’s, Desk Managers, and support teams to achieve respect and trust in the role.

Be willing to attend calls/meetings after-hours if required.

Experience/Competences:

Essential

Displays excellent written and oral communication skills and is articulate with attention to detail.

Strong excel skills or ability to learn quickly on the job. Must be a self-starter who can figure out how to do things without much instruction or formal training.

Basic understanding of P&L, BS and Cashflow and understands how a chart of accounts feeds into financial statements.

Must be able to interrogate financial systems and seek answers when/if data not as it should be or forthcoming.

Ability to manage monthly management reporting packs production in autonomous fashion

Good written communication skills in Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree qualification in accounting, finance or business required.

Desired

Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks in an organised and efficient manner.

Strong personal organisational skills with the ability to deliver under pressure with tight deadlines.

Experience working in an accounting team in junior accounting capacity is preferred.

Ability to communicate with all levels of management including C-level executives.

Experience with an Inter-Dealer-Broker or Trading bank would be preferable.
