The Role: We’re looking for an experienced Scrum Master to join our Data tribe in Hyderabad. Reporting to the Data Product Director, this role is responsible for enabling 2-3 agile squads at a time to continuously inspect and adapt their ways of working to improve value delivery to customers.

Why we need you?

It’s said that “data is the new oil” and data capabilities – from data science to data products – are essential to powering our strategic business objectives over the next few years.

You’ll be supporting 2-3 agile squads at a time in the Data tribe, with varying levels of agile maturity, to establish and continually improve their processes. We’re at an early stage in our Agile transformation journey (as part of a company-wide agile transformation initiative with senior sponsorship), with some squads having started agile transformation and others still to start.

You will be supported as a Scrum Master by our Agile Coaches.

Strong facilitation, experience of squad-level coaching and servant leadership skills are key to this role, mixed with a pragmatic hands-on approach to working with teams to identify and establish new behaviours and practices. Experience of Kanban as well as Scrum would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for enabling teams to engage with Agile values and principles and to follow the processes and practices they agree to use.

Stakeholder management with all the roles in the squad ecosystem.

Help squads develop their own rigor and discipline within their Agile approach.

Ensure that roles are correctly distributed and understood by the squad and the wider tribe (Product Owner, Developers, QA, etc…).

Responsible coaching within the team to facilitate and unlock the squad’s ongoing development.

Identify and drive continuous improvement through the team; while at same time actively participate, collaborate and communicate with other Scrum Masters and our tribe’s Agile Coaches to solve wider challenges and drive operational excellence.

Work in partnership with Product Owners, Product Managers, Delivery Managers, Architects, Agile Programme Managers and others to align delivery for each squad.

Who we’re looking for:

Expert in Agile/Scrum/Kanban delivery methodologies

Management, coaching, facilitation, and mentoring experience

Relevant experience working with squads as Scrum Master, Kanban Coach, or similar.

Certified Scrum Master or Team Kanban Practitioner

Excellent knowledge and experience of Scrum and Kanban techniques within digital transformation

Knowledge of Agile delivery management tools, such as Jira.

Ability to successfully collaborate, communicate, influence, and work effectively with key stakeholders.

Experience of facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings.

Proven track record of working with multiple teams and stakeholders to drive out performance improvement across the value stream.

Experience of working in a high velocity Agile environment, understanding the need for cross functional, rapid decision making.

Effectively manageing multiple activities of varying complexities with the ability to translate between business and technology.

2+ years’ experience as Scrum Master, Kanban Service Delivery Manager, Product Owner or equivalent with a focus on Agile / organizational transformation and change management.

2+ years’ experience with Jira, Confluence and Jira Align

2+ years’ experience collaborating with a mixture of software development and infrastructure-oriented teams.

Experience of working with product managers to understand and communicate roadmaps, and to align team behaviours with portfolio management concepts.

Familiarity with industry-standard agility and software delivery metrics, and the ability to connect the dots to the underlying practices.

Sound understanding of scaling Agile frameworks such as SoS, SAFe, LeSS, STATIK or similar, for coordinating across squads.

Sound understanding of supporting a squad with their agile technical practices such as XP, CICD, DevOps, QA Automation & Shift Left testing.

Ability to leverage skills from coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, and more to serve the team(s).

Knowledge of industry-wide technology strategies (data platform experience a bonus).

Ability to leverage capabilities across the business to solve local problems.

Experience developing shared internal training and learning materials that apply the principles of Lean, Agile, and product transformation.

Ability to support our Agile Coaches to evaluate squad maturity and create a realistic plan to help them continuously improve.

A teacher: to ensure Scrum, Kanban and other relevant methods are understood and enacted.

An impediment remover: solving issues that are blocking the team's progress, taking into account the self-organizing capabilities of the Development Team.

A change agent: to enable a culture in which Scrum teams can flourish.

Communication: critical in this role as you are listening, comprehending, repeating, summarizing, energizing, observing, writing, simplifying, critiquing, suggesting, asserting, chatting, presenting… all in one. Each conversation merits its own synergy and skill.

Taking responsibility; you are a representative of your team. If you can build and gain their trust, then you should be able to stand up for them and be proud to represent them whether they have achieved success / lesser success.

Detail as needed: a scrum master can be involved in a very detailed decision which determines the solution to a problem or in a discussion that maps the strategy of an implementation. Regardless of the level of detail, you should be able to switch gears.
