Job Title: Dishwasher/Porter – Corporate Client Department: Culinary

FLSA: Hourly, None-Exempt Status: Part-time

Reports to: Culinary Manager

Customary Days: Monday - Friday

Customary Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Varies to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business requires)

Position Summary

The porter is responsible for maintaining the cafe and service areas during service, operating the dish station, and stocking various items in the kitchen and service areas.

Essential Functions:

Appropriately engage and interact with guests

Follows proper procedures for dishwashing

Follow proper procedures for pot sink and dishwashing machine setup and maintain cleanliness.

Follows proper procedures for sanitizing and maintaining sink at proper temperature levels and water rotation

Clean and polish all pots, pans, and other equipment as required

Clean and polish china, glass & silver as required

Place clean items in the proper storage area.

Daily side work as needed

Maintain water station

Set up a Bussing station before each service, maintain it during service, and breakdown after service

Clear and clean tables in the dining room

Take out garbage throughout the work day, separate food waste from recycled items and compostable items, and use proper dumpsters to dispose of trash, compost, and recycling.

Sweep and mop all areas of the kitchen during open hours as needed, and at the end of service daily, resetting the floor mats and placing clean trash cans in the kitchen/café area.

Resets the Dining room after each service

Follow the cleaning schedule as designated by the Culinary Supervisor, maintaining the highest quality of areas at all times.

Report to work in proper uniform as outlined in the Back of the House Dress Code Policy.

Performs closing procedures as assigned by the manager.

Perform other relevant tasks as required.Requirements:

Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Completion of the City of Chicago Food Handler’s Certificate preferred, or ability to complete the certification within 90 days after the date of hire.

Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently. Bilingual skills preferred.
