Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares cost estimates from specifications, drawings and/or site visits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Visit job sites and attend pre-bid meetings.

Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying drawings and prints, specifications, and related documents.

Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and equipment requirements.

Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.

Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Maintain cost data base by entering and backing up data.

Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Information Analysis.

General Construction Estimating.

Working knowledge of construction materials, specifically pipe, fittings, and valves along with general building materials.

Planning.

Exceptional Reading Comprehension.

Scope Writing.

Attention to Detail.

Superior Communication Skills.

Travel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

5 years minimum estimating experience in general construction, mechanical, and metal fabrications.

High School Diploma.

PROFICIENCY IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS IS REQUIRED:

SYSTEMS

Microsoft Office Programs.

Blueprint Reading.

Cost analysis.

Cost Projection.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.

Carrying, lifting, pulling and/or pushing up to 50 pounds.

Grasping frequently.

Reaching frequently.

Stooping and crouching occasionally.

Fine motor skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Working hours will be spent at job sites gathering information and the office preparing labor, material, and equipment estimates.

Standard 50-hour workweek applies.
