Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) to join our team. The GNA will provide direct care to elderly residents in our long-term care facility, assisting with activities of daily living and promoting their physical and emotional well-being. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with older adults and will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

Assist elderly residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.

Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.

Help residents with mobility and positioning, including transferring and lifting as needed.

Provide assistance with medication administration under the supervision of licensed nurses.

Monitor residents' condition and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.

Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents, including ensuring proper sanitation and infection control procedures.

Encourage and support residents in participating in recreational and social activities.

Provide emotional support and companionship to residents and their families.

Document resident information and care provided accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive resident care.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Successful completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) training program and current certification as a GNA.

Valid CPR certification.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a long-term care setting.

Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards elderly residents and their families.

Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing resident needs.

Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting resident information.

Physical ability to lift and move residents and perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, bending, and kneeling.

Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining resident confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) in a long-term care facility.

Additional certifications or training in specialized areas such as dementia care or Alzheimer's disease management.
