Telecommunications Technician, Senior Ordinary Resident (OR)

GERMANY

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Comtech Systems, Inc (CSI) is looking for Telecommunications Technician, Senior Ordinary Resident (OR) candidates who will be responsible for the terminals supporting the Senior Leader Command, Control, and Communications System - Airborne (SLC3S-A) provides executive airborne communications supporting world-wide command and control capabilities to US Government Senior Leaders (i.e., the President of the United States (POTUS); Vice President of the United States (VPOTUS); Secretary of Defense (SECDEF); Secretary of State (SECSTATE); Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS); Unified Combatant Commanders (COCOMs); and their staffs as well as other Government senior leaders). Candidates will be expected to work with a spirit of cooperation and must exhibit a tenacious work ethic while possessing the drive and critical thinking to excel in potentially tumultuous conditions.

Prefer candidates with a valid US passport.

Must have an active, current Secret Clearance.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

All candidates will perform the following duties:

Provide technical support and O&M support for the SLC3S-A terminals including high-level troubleshooting and maintenance.

Responsible for managing the operations and maintenance of all the equipment for the SLC3S-A system.

Provide support for monitoring, operating, and maintaining the SLC3S-A terminals.

Personnel, who may be located at off-site locations, shall respond to system alarms, user panic notification, and user request for support.

Perform SATCOM Hub status checks. These status checks shall be logged and stored in a secure area and shall be made available if needed to help with troubleshooting or other activities outlined in this PWS.

Monitor the day-to-day operation and institute corrective actions in response to noted anomalies.

Provide the Government with a recommended status checklist.

Provide status updates during troubleshooting and confirm the reason for the outage with the designated Government POCs after resolving the problem.

Maintain a current standby schedule of on-call technicians and provide a copy to the Government.

Provide knowledge of strategic SATCOM terminals, C, Ku, X, and Ka bands.

Provide knowledge of test equipment of their operation.

Provide knowledge of test equipment of their operation.

Provide knowledge of strategic UHF systems.

Provide good verbal and communication skills.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

All candidates will have the following minimum skills:

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in support of installations, repair, troubleshooting or maintenance of communications electronic systems or equipment.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating in a tactical environment operating and maintaining antenna controllers, SSPA, LNA/LNB, up and down converters, Fiber Optic/Coax/Ethernet Cable, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) modems (satellite modems).

Experience and skill with commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures and commercial TDMA/DAMA modems required.

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally with diverse audiences, internally and externally to foster strong teamwork.

Work well independently or as a member of a team environment

Detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, OR an Associate’s degree plus seven (7) years of recent specialized experience, OR eleven (11) total years of recent specialized experience.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
