Job Description
CFS has partnered with a fast growing client in West Michigan that's looking to add an Accounts Payable Specialist to their team. Our client is one of the largest, family-owned and operated, co-manufacturing food companies in the nation. They make food products for retail, club store, and foodservice customers under their national brands and private labels. The role will primarily support Accounts Payable as well as perform certain accounting functions including serving as a back-up for Accounts Receivable.
Accounts Payable Specialist Responsibilities:
Supports accounts payable:
Codes invoices and check requests correctly to ensure proper entry in financial records
Matches corresponding purchase orders to incoming invoices with all supporting documentation
Prepares, reviews and submits payment files (ACH and checks)
Obtains appropriate approvals for payments
Vendor correspondence via phone and email
Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing invoices
Receives, researches and resolves a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate people
Serves as backup for Accounts Receivable Specialist as needed
Assists with monthly reporting, analysis and reconciliation of select account activity
Performs other duties to support Finance department including special projects, audit support, and reception desk coverage
Accounts Payable Specialist Qualifications/Skills:
Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an Accounting major preferred
Relevant experience; minimum two years preferred
Good written and verbal communication skills
Works well in a team environment
Strong organization, analytical and problem solving skills
