Career TEAM is excited to work with an enthusiastic Employment Specialist who will welcome job seekers into the orientation process. In this role, the Employment Specialist will provide professional assistance to help guide participants in career development and educational pathways that lead to gainful employment and self-sufficiency. Our Employment Specialists are rewarded for providing best-in-class services and accelerating clients toward their goals.

Your Impact on Career Team’s Success:

Facilitate initial orientations and conduct workshops

Develop and manage comprehensive working relationship with all VIP’s attending orientation and workshops with an emphasis on the importance of job search

Identify and assist with mitigating initial barriers to program participation prior to case management assignments.

Assist VIP’s with creating and/or updating resumes and cover letters

Train VIP’s to create job search timesheets in the portal and upload supporting documentation.

Coach and mentor job seekers through personal and professional development

Collaborate with the Job Developer on special events (Career Fairs etc…)

Send workshop and special event reminders

Case note client specific contacts in the DHS data system

Prepare reports of activities and achievements

Approach each day and task with a “ZAG” mindset

Other duties as assigned by Program Director

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite and RESIDE at the listed location.

To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University

Experience in Career Training/Services and Facilitation

5+ years of experience in adult learning, workforce development, career training or other employment related field

Experience working with populations similar to the District’s TANF Customers

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power Automate, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Forms

A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, handle personnel matters effectively, and handle employee and personnel inquiries with sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy

Sharp attention to detail with exceptional organizational, analytical, research, and critical thinking skills, including the ability to perform and complete a high volume of work assignments with speed and accuracy

Ability to work both independently and as a member or a team

Demonstrated experience with internet job banks and search engines

Knowledge of Government Workforce regulations such as WIA / WIOA, TANF, DOES, etc.

Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

A Valid Driver’s License

Salary: $45,000

Employment Type: Full-time, non-exempt employee

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Career TEAM offers a competitive benefits package including healthcare, dental, and personal/vacation time

Travel: Position may require local travel up to 20% of the time
