They will be responsible for performing take-offs, obtaining third party pricing, conducting estimate calculations and compiling data for use in estimates.

Estimates will be provided for MasTec’s Oil and Gas and Industrial divisions.

As this is a senior position the Lead Estimator – Facilities will be working closely with various MasTec Operational Managers and Construction Managers for projects within Alberta and British Columbia markets.

Preference will be given to those candidates living in and around Edmonton, AB.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work Ensure proper scope alignment through review of all client drawings and documents.

Prepare request for information that are directed for responses from the Owners’ engineers Complete accurate quantity take-offs and calculations to properly support the estimate Complete all pricing while maintaining proper best practices for documentation Complete final estimate closeout Develop and maintain resource loaded estimate schedules as required Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate calculations, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.

Complete design reviews to identify and price alternate price options and recommend best solution based Assist Operational Managers, Construction Managers and other Estimators with execution plans, manpower loading, and scheduling, as required Support MasTec’s Proposal Coordinator in the submission of proposal documents as required Identify documents that are required deliverables from the client proposal and coordinate with MasTec’s Proposal Coordinator to ensure completion Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier quotations to support pricing Participate in plan review and estimate reviews for respective projects Assist in compiling historical cost data for projects Develop list of subcontractors/suppliers to solicit quotes on the project Attend project meetings as required Complete site visits as required Other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Technical education with a bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience 5 to 8 years’ experience in estimating Oil and Gas as well as industrial projects Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading and closing estimates Experience with Hard Dollar software, P6 and Tilos is required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Canada’s 6 Core Values Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or government regulations Write reports, business correspondence and document project activities Proficiency Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
