Job Overview:
We're looking for a Cost Estimator that will play a critical role in assessing project costs and timelines to support accurate bidding and project planning. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients. Your primary responsibilities will involve analyzing project requirements, gathering data, and utilizing estimating software to develop comprehensive cost estimates. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of project proposals and provide insights to optimize project budgets and schedules.
Job Description:
Review construction project plans and specifications to identify materials, quantities, and scope of work required.
Perform detailed material take-offs (quantity surveys) from project drawings and specifications.
Utilize estimating software and tools to calculate quantities and prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Prepare detailed quotes and proposals based on project requirements and supplier pricing.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to refine project scopes and address cost-related inquiries.
Evaluate and compare supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and quality of materials and services.
Maintain organized records of take-offs, quotes, and project documentation.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure clarity and accuracy in quote preparation and submission.
Requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Preferably 1-3 years estimating experience
Proven experience as a cost estimator specializing in plan take-offs and quote preparation, preferably in the construction industry.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Experience using estimating software and tools for material take-offs and cost calculations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with project teams, suppliers, and clients.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
