Senior Merchant

As a Senior Merchant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the merchandising strategy for the company. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, and product assortment. The Senior Merchant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive sales, optimize inventory levels, and enhance the overall customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising Strategy:

Develop and implement a comprehensive merchandising strategy aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.

Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify new opportunities and potential risks.

Product Assortment:

Curate a diverse and compelling product assortment that meets the needs and preferences of the target audience.

Work closely with vendors and suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, secure exclusive products, and ensure high-quality merchandise.

Inventory Management:

Optimize inventory levels to maximize sales while minimizing overstock and out-of-stock situations.

Implement effective forecasting and demand planning processes to ensure product availability and timely restocking.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, operations, and sales, to ensure alignment and seamless execution of merchandising initiatives.

Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional campaigns and strategies that drive product visibility and sales.

Data Analysis:

Utilize data analytics to assess product performance, customer behavior, and market trends.

Make data-driven recommendations for assortment adjustments, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.

Vendor Management:

Cultivate strong relationships with vendors and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.

Evaluate vendor performance and take corrective actions as needed to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery timelines.

Financial Management:

Manage the merchandising budget effectively, ensuring that financial goals are met and profitability is maintained.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to improve overall financial performance.

Leadership and Mentorship:

Provide leadership and mentorship to junior members of the merchandising team.

Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or related field. Master's degree is a plus.

Proven experience in a senior merchandising role, with a track record of successfully driving sales and managing product assortments.

Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

In-depth knowledge of the retail industry and market trends.

Proficiency in using merchandising software and data analysis tools.
