Position Overview

The Junior Technician - Refrigeration is responsible for assisting senior technicians and engineers in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigeration systems. The role involves working with various types of refrigeration equipment, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary repairs to ensure the optimal functioning of refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities

Installation: Assist senior technicians in installing new refrigeration systems, including positioning equipment, connecting refrigerant lines, and ensuring proper insulation.

Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on refrigeration systems, such as cleaning condenser coils, checking and replenishing refrigerant levels, and inspecting electrical connections.

Troubleshooting: Assist in identifying and diagnosing malfunctions in refrigeration systems by using diagnostic tools, gauges, and meters. Help determine the root cause of issues and recommend solutions.

Repair: Collaborate with senior technicians to repair and replace faulty components, such as compressors, evaporators, condensers, valves, and motors. Follow established repair procedures and safety guidelines.

Testing and Calibration: Assist in testing refrigeration systems after repairs or maintenance to ensure proper functioning. Calibrate controls, thermostats, and pressure settings as needed.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, maintenance tasks, and equipment specifications. Update maintenance logs and provide input for equipment history tracking.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with refrigeration equipment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe handling practices for refrigerants.

Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients and team members. Provide basic explanations to customers about the work performed and offer recommendations for efficient system operation.

Learning and Development: Continuously learn about new technologies and trends in the refrigeration field. Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry best practices.

Assistance in Emergency Situations: Be available to assist senior technicians during emergency repair situations, including off-hours and weekends, as needed.

Qualifications And Skills

ITI or Equivalent. Relevant vocational or technical training in refrigeration systems is preferred.

Basic understanding of refrigeration principles, components, and systems.

Familiarity with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and electrical meters commonly used in refrigeration work.

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work well within a team and take direction from senior technicians.

Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.

Safety-conscious mindset and adherence to established safety protocols.

Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying environmental conditions.

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to work sites.
