This position is responsible for achieving the defined production targets for the shift in terms of volume, quality and timelines at optimal cost.
The role will be responsible for enhancing the overall efficiency and productivity for the assigned sub division, by undertaking various improvement initiatives. The role will also be responsible for maintaining the safety and health standards in the shift.

KEY ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning Scheduling
Plan all activities and allocation of work for the shift as per the production plan and schedule for the Division
Plan for manpower, material, tools and other resources and equipment for the Shift as required for carrying out the production as per plan
Production Operations
Ensure proper implementation of the production plan and schedule for the shift and achievement of production targets
Supervise the production process for the shift to ensure productivity and efficiency targets and standards are achieved
Continuously monitor various production parameters like quantity and quality of material, machine utilization, uptime, etc.
Update the Division Manager in case of any deviations or errors in the production plan or the production parameters and take necessary corrective action in a timely manner
Ensure availability of material on the production line in coordination with the stores team
Raise requisition for material and consumables in a timely manner to ensure no disruption in production process
Coordinate with engineering departments and Technology for resolution of any technical problem such as breakdown of machinery/ equipment s, leakage, low yields, deviation in process parameters etc.
Ensure compliance to the defined processes and standards on the production line
Production Quality
Ensure all quality parameters and requirements for the product are adhered to through the production process
Ensure reduction in in-process rejections and internal rework so as to attain efficient operations and cost reduction
Continuously monitor resolution of frequent errors
Escalate repetitive errors to the Division Manager to identify a sustainable solution
Efficiency Productivity
Ensure all activities planned as a part of the improvement projects are undertaken by the team during the shift as required and completed as per standards defined
Identify areas of improvement on the production line and suggest ways to improve to the Division Manager
Ensure all activities for implementation of new systems and processes line OHSAS, ISO, SPARSH, QBM, Kaizen, etc. are completed as per plan and allocation
Cost Reduction
Work towards ensuring cost savings in variable costs through innovative ideas and optimum usage of raw materials, tools and consumables
Ensure efficient handling of the material and overall reduction in wastage
Monitor consumption of indirect material and implement ways to reduce the same
MIS and Reporting
Record and report all production expenditure incurred during the shift
Ensure SAP is updated regularly and accurately
Prepare and maintain all production MIS for the Shift as per the defined formats and timelines
Ensure preparation of any other report as and when required
Health and Safety
Ensure safety measures are consistently and strictly followed by all during the shift and take initiative to enhance acceptance of safety as a culture so as to achieve zero accident level.
Report any incident to the GM - Production immediately
Team Management
Manage performance of the team during the shift to ensure optimum utilization of manpower
Review operator performance and ensure it meets set standards
Coach, counsel and provide guidance to team members
Discuss with management to resolve operator problems, complaints or grievances if any
Maintain a high standard of employee morale and engagement in the shift through constant communication and constructive and cooperative relationships with team, union members, contract staff
Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency etc.
Enhance team capability by identifying training needs for permanent and contract employees
Arrange to conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures
