The primary purpose of this position is to underwrite new business and renewals in a profitable manner and according to authority level and established guidelines, and drive projects having an impact on the business. Assigned larger, more important and more complex accounts. Utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges. Understand state laws, including cancellation and non-renewal, within assigned territory to properly transact business within each state. Knowledgeable in coverage forms and policy language; appropriate utilization of forms and exclusions. Assist with resolving premium audit disputes within assigned agents/brokers. Viewed as an expert within a product area and able to mentor less experienced underwriters.

What you'll be doing:

Strong understanding and proven ability to underwrite hospital and complex allied/miscellaneous medical facility business;

Strong ability to present at underwriting meetings with senior executives from existing and prospective insureds;

Provide policy review and rating guidance;

Actively participate in Claims meetings and reviews;

Quote and bind new and renewal accounts according to our underwriting guidelines and strategy;

Maintain and adhere to all underwriting file documentation standards;

Cultivate and improve retail broker relationships across the east region of the US;

Collaboration with Regional Leadership.

What we're looking for:

4+ years of underwriting experience preferred;

Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility;

Demonstrated marketing and relationship building skills;

Four-year college degree and/or CPCU or similar designation preferred;

Excellent oral and written communication skills;

Strong analytical and organizational skills;

Proven experience with Excel;

Must be a team player that enjoys a flexible and spontaneous business environment;

Ability to travel up to 25%.

Pay information:

The salary for the position is $84K - $114K with a 40% bonus potential.
