Our client, a local general contracting company focused on civil utilities and ICI, with an office located in Vars, is currently looking to hire a Project Manager to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

***Please note this is not a hybrid / remote job as it requires you to visit work sites daily but also offers some work from home flexibility at times, depending on the ongoing project needs

Required skills and qualifications:

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager, ideally within ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) with a combination of both company employees and sub-contractors in the field

Ability to bring ICI best practices to then help establish and formalize internal SOPs

Previous experience estimating construction projects

Must have strong English communication skills, bilingual (English / French) is an asset

Must have experience using MS Excel

Must have own vehicle and full G class licence (not bus accessible and need to visit construction sites daily [within Ottawa area])

PMP Designation considered a strong asset

Post-secondary education in construction management or construction technology an asset

Previous experience preparing and submitting bids to tenders (RFP) an asset

Must be highly organized, have strong multi-tasking and time management skills

Must be resourceful, take initiative, able to work in a fast-paced environment, while being flexible and adaptable to an evolving / growing business

Experience with Jonas software an asset

Experience with Procore software an asset

Ability to work independently and take initiative to ensure deadlines are always being met and issues are rectified in a timely fashion

Duties may include but are not limited to:

Receive project details and reviewing scope of work and CCDC contracts – current majority of work is related to civil utilities (Hydro Ottawa) but company is rapidly growing and expanding into ICI

Estimate jobs using costing templates in MS Excel

Attend kick off meetings with Foreman on sites

Meet with customers on sites to review/discuss project details, change orders, complications, extras, setbacks, etc.

Supervise and liaise with 3-4 Foreman to ensure work is being completed on time, on budget, and within scope of work

Liaise with external consultants (Engineers and Architects)

Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders

Define the Statement of Work and Specifications for the requested goods and services

Manage projects from start to finish (on average managing up to 20 projects concurrently, valued at around $100,000 per project, and majority of jobs lasting 1-2 weeks)

Responsible for all aspects of project management including start-up, estimates, budgets, schedules, progress reports, final review/measurements, billing, etc.

Manage client relations and act as first point of contact in tandem with Site Foreman

Provide sales support by identifying new contract/tender opportunities, staying in contact with clients to assess upcoming work, and establish a presence with new prospective clients

Monitor expenditures to ensure respecting project budgets and maximizing profit margins

Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration, or litigation, as needed

Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices

Possible on-call required for after-hours emergencies on certain projects

Other duties as assigned and required

Starting Salary: $100,000 to $120,000 – depending on experience and qualifications, plus bonus up to 10% of salary

Work schedule: Monday to Thursday – 7:00am to 5:00pm, and Fridays 7:00am to 4:00pm. Please note some overtime may be required from time to time depending on the projects.
