Role Overview: SCADA Developers play a pivotal role in enhancing Strata's operational capabilities by developing and maintaining enterprise SCADA systems. By developing and maintaining robust SCADA systems, this role directly contributes to our ability to deliver superior services to our valued customers in the energy industry. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration, functionality, and continuous operation of the SCADA system across all business assets, directly contributing to Strata's mission of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

SCADA System Implementation: Spearhead the implementation of enterprise SCADA systems across all business assets, ensuring seamless integration and functionality

Solution Development: Identify and develop software and hardware solutions related to SCADA and Automation, enhancing system efficiency and effectiveness.

System Availability: Collaborate with support staff to guarantee 24/7 availability of the SCADA system, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous operation.

Software Programming: Design and program facilities within the SCADA application software to meet operational needs and objectives. Setup and configuration in Ignition, Geo SCADA and AVEVA Enterprise SCADA systems.

Integrate and manage SCADA database systems to historians (OSIsoft PI, Canary, etc.), measurement/accounting systems (FlowCal, PGAS, etc.), Leak Detection Systems (ATMOS, Emerson PLM, etc.) GIS, and other business intelligence systems for custom reporting and data analytics (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).

Coordinate and participate in designing and administrating standards and documentation for SCADA configuration databases and applications programming.

Technical Support: Work closely with field technicians to resolve issues and test new devices, ensuring high system reliability and performance.

Training: Train field personnel on new equipment and technologies, promoting knowledge sharing and operational excellence.

Issue Resolution: Function as a first-level contact for resolving issues related to SCADA systems, providing expert advice and solutions.

Continuous Improvement: Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the continuous improvement of Strata's SCADA operations.

Ensure QA/QC and Customer Acceptance Testing is completed on all projects

Provide project lifecycle leadership and expertise for SCADA projects to include project scope, cost, schedule, estimating, and progress measurement and change management.

Participate in kick-off meetings with the Project Manager / Sales to ensure understanding of scope, cost, schedule, and execution strategy.

Ability to understand and apply safe work practices

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.

Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

3-5 years in a similar SCADA development role preferred.

Proficiency in Java, Python, SQL, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 for comprehensive data collection, processing, and application development.

Understanding of HTTP and WebSocket protocols, cross-browser compatibility issues, client-side performance considerations, and OT Cybersecurity.

Skilled in creating data pipelines and integrations in databases, data warehouses, and data lakes using various technologies.

Solid understanding of SCADA architecture design, including control, measurement, and safety systems for oil and gas production and pipeline facilities.

Familiarity with different RTU protocols and processes.

Deep understanding of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems preferred.

Familiarity with upstream, midstream, and downstream operations preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting for extended periods at a desk working on computers.

Close visual attention is necessary for reading schematics and detailed work on computer screens. Good overall vision, with or without correction, is vital, including accurately distinguishing colors for wiring and safety signals.

Adequate hearing is necessary for safety reasons, particularly in environments with machinery and equipment where hearing auditory alarms and signals is crucial.

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, hard hats, and, in some cases, respirators.

Work Environment:

Team members will encounter a range of work environments, each tailored to the specific demands and nature of individual projects. Candidates should be prepared for and adaptable to the following conditions:

Primary: Office environments that are well-lit and maintain comfortable temperatures through heating and air conditioning

Occasional: industrial and warehouse settings equipped with effective ventilation systems

Rare: outdoor project exposed to varying and extreme weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
