Role Overview: At Strata, Automation Programmers are critical technical professionals responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions that optimize operations and drive innovation for our valued clients. This role involves creating and customizing software applications, integrating systems, and ensuring automation platforms' reliability and efficiency. Our programmers apply their oil and gas industry expertise to support digitally integrated strategies and enhance automation systems. They work closely with cross-functional teams, providing insights, direction, and technical guidance to develop and enforce standards and best practices in automation.

Key Responsibilities:

•Collaborate closely with the customer’s field engineer and field team members to conceptualize, design, and implement control systems that align with the digitally integrated oil and gas operations strategy.

•Demonstrate advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in controls & automation, particularly in the development and implementation of PLC/HMI solutions and integration with SCADA and business systems.

•Showcase specific experience or familiarity with Rockwell's Studio 5000, RSlogix500, and other platforms like Ignition and FactoryTalk View. Experience with IDEC WindLDR, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Control Expert and Red Lion Crimson Software is also preferred.

•Possess strong knowledge of process controls, motor controls, instrumentation, automation principles, and industrial networking.

•Expertise in Industrial Control Network architecture and system integration using open protocols such as OPC/MQTT.

•Utilize engineering expertise, creative judgment, and experience to support the vision and tactical plans for our customers' Automation Systems platform.

•Provide expert technical insight and direction concerning Industrial Internet Of Things (IIoT), Operational Technology (OT), and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives.

•Develop viable implementation alternatives and offer strategic insights and directions to cross-functional teams, including providing cost estimates, feasibility studies, specifications, and interpreting requirements.

•Ensure accountability in developing and adhering to automation solution standards and best practices within the organization.

•Guide project teams and internal and external technical resources in assessing opportunities for applying innovative designs and performance improvements.

•Coach and mentor field technicians and other members of Strata Innovative Solutions, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team.

•Work effectively within fast-paced, dynamic environments, demonstrating excellent teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.

•Maintain superb written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, and the ability to coordinate efforts across various departments and functional areas.

Qualifications:

•Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Controls Engineering, or Automation Engineering, or a related field of study is required.

•Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

•3-5 years in Oil and Gas automation & controls solutions is preferred.

•Demonstrated experience in controls & automation.

•Demonstrated experience in delivering within a change management process.

•Demonstrated hands-on experience in implementing automation and SCADA solutions, including integration with higher-order business systems.

•Specific experience with Studio 5000 is preferred.

•Advanced knowledge of Industrial Control Network architecture is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

•Sitting for extended periods at a desk working on computers.

•Close visual attention is necessary for reading schematics and detailed work on computer screens. Good overall vision, with or without correction, is vital, including accurately distinguishing colors for wiring and safety signals.

•Adequate hearing is necessary for safety reasons, particularly in environments with machinery and equipment where hearing auditory alarms and signals is crucial.

•Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, hard hats, and, in some cases, respirators.

Work Environment:

Team members will encounter a range of work environments, each tailored to the specific demands and nature of individual projects. Candidates should be prepared for and adaptable to the following conditions:

•Primarily in office environments that are well-lit and maintain comfortable temperatures through heating and air conditioning

•Occasionally, Industrial and warehouse settings equipped with effective ventilation systems

•Occasionally, outdoor projects lead to varying and extreme weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
