McCormick Construction is seeking a highly motivated and organized Estimating Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in our organization, responsible for the development, implementation and management of our estimating process and team.

McCormick Construction is an industrial construction contractor providing design-build, general contracting, millwright, concrete and crane services to bulk material storage, handling, and processing for industries in agriculture, biofuels, mining, milling and other industrial process facilities through the United States. The Estimating Manager's primary responsibility is leading the Estimating team functions including the people, processes, and tools required for success. The Estimating team is responsible for preparing and developing accurate, timely, and detailed estimates on a variety of projects presented by Business Development.

Requirements

Coach, mentor and develop a team of Estimating team members achieving the high-performance outcome towards company expectations.

Handle all day-to-day supervisory responsibilities for personnel related to training, personal performance goals and work activities.

Responsible for leading and direction the day-to-day activities and for developing a team-based culture driving change and improvement initiatives.

Provide employees in the estimating department with continuous instruction on proper techniques and procedures. Performs follow-up checks and provides management with feedback regarding the performance of individual employees.

Lead regular staff meetings to discuss group accomplishments, issues and concerns, company business change and/or improvement projects.

Takes initiative to identify improvement areas, untapped resources, processes, and/or technologies for all the above procedures to reduce costs, eliminate waste, and improve overall efficiency.

Interpret and analyze customer requirements by reviewing all documents including construction/shop drawings, and verbal and written specifications.

Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labor and equipment.

Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors.

Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame.

Assessing the risk levels associated with a project.

Preparing and submitting quotations and details of costs for work to be done.

Assisting with bids for new contracts and supporting the activities of buyers

Monitoring the cost at the different states of a project to ensure it stays within the estimated costs.

Attend client requested presentations of our proposal, if required.

Attend onsite pre-bid meetings, if required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of or ability to learn Bluebeam, Salesforce.com, Excel, etc.

Must be a self-starter and manage multiple deadlines.

Must have problem solving, strategic thinking, decision making skills.

Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and estimating software.

The ability to read architectural plans, specifications and develop cost estimates.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to manage time appropriately.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, statistics, or another related field.

Training in engineering management or project management with relevant work experience.

5+ year of experience working as an estimator.

2-3 years previous supervisory/management experience required.

3-5 years experience in our industry
