Responsibilities:
Measure, cut, and bend various sizes of pipe and tubing to required angle/length using pipe cutters and benders.
Copper Brazing and soldering
Threading and assembling black pipe
Groove and assemble steel pipe
Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications
Install valves, hangers, supports and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications
Repair leaks in all types of pipe systems
Assemble, install, and repair piping systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes
Assist with coordination of materials, labor, and equipment
Order, inventory, and receive material delivered on computer
Responsible for training and developing apprentices
Ensure all safety procedures and quality standards are followed
Work with other departments as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum 7-10 years of pipefitting or plumbing experience
Must have previous experience in supervision (3-5 years minimum is preferred)
Must have strong communication skills
Must be able to perform a material take off list
Must be comfortable directing multiple crew members, while actively working
Working knowledge of all types of piping systems
Must be able to read, comprehend, and interpret pipe drawings
Possess the ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly
Must have the ability to independently lift and carry objects safely that weigh up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds frequently, and 80 pounds occasionally
Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding, as well as aerial lifts
Knowledge of pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, gas, and drainage systems
Must have the ability to read and interpret a written scope of work
Perform basic mathematical computations and use measuring tools
Must be able to identify basic trade materials by size, shape and function and safely use small power tools and hand tools
Reliable transportation
Pipe welding using SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW is beneficial but not required
Valid Driver's License
