SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Continually identify and verify new machine tooling options to optimize CNC program efficiency for large scale CNC lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills, and five axis machining centers used in the machining of large forgings for critical applications. Contribute to the efficient functioning of manufacturing operations by developing and providing technical knowledge used to make decisions, improve processes, reduce costs, and create products recognized for highest quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Create and review 3D models of finished product, and associated tooling.

2. Simplify tooling time for operators to increase productivity

3. Transfer customer drawings to manufacturing CAD drawings, as required for machine shop operations.

4. Responsible for peer checking and approval of CAD drawings, within CAD/CAM department. 5. (Siemens) NX, CAD/CAM software, and/or Vericut simulation software experience a huge plus. 6. Analyze job order and performs necessary calculations. This includes making calculations for

programs including where materials should be cut, drilled, bored, honed, etc.

7. Assist Manufacturing Engineering to determine proper sequence of operations within programs.

8. Analyze and select proper speeds, feeds, and choose cutting tools for programs

9. Communicate with machine operators who will utilize said programs.

10. Some involvement with writing, analyzing and modifying existing programs for increased efficiencies, including improved set up times for a task and contouring of complex shapes.

11. Monitor all programs to ensure they follow blueprint instructions to safely complete the tasks.

12. Provide training on new systems and equipment as required.

13. Comply with all safety rules and regulations.

14. Participate in other special projects for the department.

15. Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience

A 4-year bachelor's degree (BSE), or related engineering degree with 3-5 years of experience; or alternatively, an Associates (2-year) degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering with 7 plus years of experience in a CNC machine shop or related manufacturing setting.

Computer drawing skills a must, (Siemens NX CAD and/or CAM a plus).

Prior knowledge of CNC Machine programming Knowledge of Fanuc controllers and machine tools a plus

Excellent reading, written, verbal listening and overall communication and comprehension skills. Ability to read and interpret blue prints, drawings, charts, tables, other written instructions, and various symbols regarding tolerances, surface finishes, etc.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must have good problem solving, organizational, time management, and planning skills

Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, etc.

Strong analytical, geometrical, and shop math skills Attention to detail required

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

Contacts are typically with individuals inside of the organization and involve obtaining or providing information requiring some explanation or interpretation. There is some contact with individuals outside of the organization with regard to programming CNC equipment. There is no responsibility for this position to supervise others.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work environment is primarily an office setting with some industrial manufacturing exposure to include high temperatures and moderate noise levels. Hearing protection may be required during certain operations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
