Principal Software Engineer – Healthcare IoT Security Startup

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (you must work in the office at least 1 day per week)

The company's product involves IoT, cybersecurity, and healthcare.

The company has about 80 employees (about 3x what they had 1 year ago) and 25 engineers and is rapidly growing.

The company has raised $20 million in funding, and revenues are rapidly increasing. The company has customers across the US and the world.

The company will pay up to $200k in salary, 10% yearly bonus, and equity which could be lucrative.

Job Responsibilities:

- Working with Java and Spring Boot. Ideally you'd be spending about 95% of your time on backend engineering, but depending on your preference, it could be anywhere from 50-100% backend.

- Designing, developing & testing Java backend services.

- Applying design patterns to build highly scalable micro services.

- Driving innovation, new feature conceptualization, design, and product specifications.

- Training and coaching software engineers to ensure that they are expertly executing on designing, developing and delivering a great customer experience.

Qualifications

- At least 10 years (the more the better) of professional experience, with at least 5 years of experience in developing backend services based on Spring Boot.

- Experience developing scalable micro services in Docker containers.

- Experience developing Java backend services for Ubuntu Linux platform.

- Understanding of database query performance optimization.

- Experience interacting with customers to assist with product implementation and resolving product issues.

- Experience with Agile Methodologies such as Scrum/Kanban.

- Track record of developing new technical and professional skills on a constant basis.

- Experience in creating both high level and low level design documents.

- Integration development experience and knowledge with one or more Network Access Control (NAC) Software such as Fortinet, Cisco ISE & SecureX, Extreme Networks, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, ForeScout, Aruba, or Clearpass.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and industry focus.

Nice to have:

- Healthcare domain experience.

- IoT domain experience.

- Knowledge of Networking protocols.

- Spring cloud framework.

- Postgres, Solr DB, Google Cloud.

- Network Access Control.

- Networking protocols.

- Experience with modern software engineering practices such as Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, and respective tools such as Asana.
