AHC is seeking a qualified Grant Writer with a strong writing voice that can win grants.Your winning grant applications will support our revenue goals to achieve AHC’s Strategic Plan of doubling our impact. We seek an individual who is committed and interested in affordable housing, social justice, direct services for community members, and/or other relevant issues that support communities and address socioeconomic inequities.

Mission: At Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC), our mission is to build opportunity by creating quality homes with holistic resident services. AHC is actively developing affordable, workforce and mixed-income rental housing in the Virginia, Washington & Baltimore regions and currently owns over 8,000 apartment units at more than 50 communities. We put our residents at the heart of all we do, and aim to drive change through innovation, genuine partnerships, and responsible investment.

Institutional Giving Goal: The goal is to build strong and lasting relationships with institutional giving entities, build a fundraising strategy that diversifies AHC supporters, and create communications (proposals, reports, and other stewardship tools) that are donor-centric and compellingly describe AHC programs, mission, and needs to reach revenue goals and strengthen AHC’s philanthropic culture.

Responsibilities:

the grant writing process that includes understanding donor requirements, creating templates, drafting initial proposal, report writing, and editing.

with AHC staff to develop concepts/ideas for proposals, reports, and strategy.

compelling materials for use in cultivating, stewardship, and soliciting institutional donors that convey mission and direction and address the programmatic interests of each funder.

and track and track prospect research.

CRM; create gift reports, pledge reports, deadline reports, and more.

Qualifications:

Must have 3-5 years of successful institutional giving development experience, including wins from grant submissions.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

with Salesforce or another CRM database. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, be collaborative, meticulous, and manage multiple priorities.
