Media Relations Manager

Our boutique B2B and technology agency client is looking for a Media Relations Manager in Austin, TX to design and execute creative media relations strategies for their diverse portfolio of clients. This person will be a passionate storyteller with a proven track record of securing top-tier media placements themselves and prioritizes relationship-building over everything else.

The Media Relations Manager reports to the Director of Client Services and every week will ideate and conduct multiple media relations campaigns in collaboration with other interdisciplinary teammates.

Manager of Media Relations Responsibilities:

Pitch and secure media placements in top-tier and trade outlets within the B2B and tech space.

Provide recommendations to clients on their media outreach strategy and targets and then follow through with outreach.

Become fluent with each client’s media relations goals, leading the concepting, planning, and execution of media relations campaigns.

Lead monthly media relations planning. Ensure team members execute campaigns and report progress to client, account leads, and agency leadership.

Oversee development of and edit messaging and related collateral created by junior staff including press releases, pitches, briefings, fact sheets and backgrounders.

Draft and edit integrated marketing and communications content such as press releases, pitches and executive bylines.

Manager of Media Relations Requirements:

4-6 years of experience designing and managing media relations campaigns for B2B and technology brands.

Agency experience is strongly preferred.

Expertise in B2B technology verticals such as fintech, supply chain, AI/machine learning, insurtech and more.

Demonstrated experience and track record of interacting or establishing relationships with Tier-1 and trade media to secure placements across broadcast, print, and web.

Passion for team collaboration and client success.

Excellent communication skills across all channels.

Experience with Cision, Meltwater or MuckRack.
