Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Dam Safety Engineer to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering with a focus on dam safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance. The Dam Safety Engineer will play a key role in assessing the condition of dams, identifying potential hazards, and developing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive dam safety inspections, including visual assessments, instrumentation monitoring, and structural analysis.

Evaluate dam performance and stability through analysis of hydrological, geotechnical, and structural data.

Develop and implement dam safety monitoring programs to track performance and detect potential issues.

Prepare technical reports and documentation detailing dam safety evaluations, findings, and recommendations.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, hydrologists, and regulatory agencies, to address dam safety concerns and ensure compliance with regulations.

Perform risk assessments and develop risk management plans to address potential failure modes and mitigate risks to public safety and the environment.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients on dam safety best practices, regulatory requirements, and risk management strategies.

Stay current on industry standards, best practices, and regulatory developments related to dam safety.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of [state] or ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire.

Minimum of [X] years of experience in dam safety engineering or related field.

Strong understanding of dam design principles, hydrology, hydraulics, and geotechnical engineering.

Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD.Pro) and geotechnical analysis tools.
