Job Summary:

The Regional People Partner Director plays a crucial role in aligning people strategies with business objectives. This leadership position involves overseeing a regional team of People Partner and Talent Acquisition resources, collaborating with operations leadership, and driving initiatives that enhance organizational performance and employee engagement. The People Business Partner Director is responsible for developing and implementing people programs that support the overall business strategy while fostering a positive workplace culture. The Regional People Director must be able to cultivate, build and maintain strong working relationships with the internal People Operations team and field leadership to collaborate on department or team initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Alignment:

Collaborate with senior leadership to understand business goals and develop people strategies that align with organizational objectives.

Provide insight and guidance on workforce planning, talent acquisition, and organizational design.

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead and manage a team of People Business Partners and Talent Acquisition Specialists, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development.

Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the regional People team.

Employee Relations:

Oversee employee relations activities, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures.

Address complex employee relations issues, conducting investigations as needed.

Organizational Development:

Drive initiatives related to organizational development, including change management, leadership development, and succession planning.

Implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.

Performance Management:

Partner with the Learning & Organizational development team to execute the annual performance evaluation process.

Provide guidance to managers on performance-related issues and contribute to the development of performance improvement plans and/or provide guidance on navigating the progressive discipline process.

Compensation and Benefits:

Collaborate with the Total Rewards team to design and implement competitive and equitable compensation and benefits programs.

Monitor industry trends and make recommendations to ensure the organization remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent.

HR Metrics and Analytics:

Utilize HR metrics and analytics to measure the effectiveness of people programs and initiatives.

Provide data-driven insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making.

Collaborate with HR tech team on HRIS system best practices and facilitate training with managers in the field.

Legal Compliance:

Stay current with employment laws and regulations, ensuring the organization's compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

Advise senior leadership on potential legal risks and recommend appropriate actions.

Maintains knowledge of state cannabis licensing requirements and ensures compliance within region.

Talent Acquisition:

Work closely with the Director of Talent Acquisition to manage regional TA resources.

Responsible for regional Talent Acquisition strategy in partnership with Director of TA to ensure recruiting best practices while tailoring approach to local needs.

Labor Relations

Oversee management of existing union contracts, cultivating a relationship with union representatives and managing grievance process.

Work closely with in-house legal to negotiate new union contracts as necessary and educate managers on leading in a union environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Management or related discipline.

Minimum 8-10 years of HR experience with several years of progressively responsible experience in HR, a focus on business partnering and leadership roles preferred.

Previous experience in a Manufacturing/CPG or Retail setting.

Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and industry trends.

Exceptional leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strategic thinking and the ability to translate business goals into people initiatives.

Ability to adapt and shift priorities in a moment’s notice.

The ability to travel 25 – 50% within the region is expected to visit retail and cultivation facilities. The East region currently consists of PA, MD and NJ (states are subject to change as a result of business expansion).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR highly preferred, but not required.

Experience with unions strongly preferred.

Experience managing a multi-state or regional team.
