Sr. Materials Planner

SUMMARY

The Sr. Materials Planner is a key component of the supply chain organization at Nature’s Bakery. The successful candidate is an organized, detail-oriented, effective communicator who can both think on their feet and create long-term plans and share the vision of that plan with

key stakeholders. They will maintain synchronization of the supply chain between various organizations, customers, and suppliers by managing product requirements, inventory systems, and production flow of work in process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Material requirements planning for day-to-day production, overseeing the lifecycle of

ingredients from entry into the plant through its use into a finished good

Coordinate the purchase and delivery of raw materials and maintain adequate stock levels for

both short and long-term plans based on forecasts and sales

Manage inventory levels to appropriate days on hand targets and monitor freshness

Work with vendors and effectively escalate any ingredient delays or quality concerns

Coordinate with management, internal teams (warehouse, procurement, logistics, etc.) and

shop floor personnel regarding all issues impacting the supply chain and schedule

Incorporate planning decisions to reduce material and product variability

Serve on multifunctional teams to define quality, delivery, and performance standards

Minimize cost through effective management of inventory levels and waste

Assist with reporting and documentation of raw material inventories, scheduling, etc.

Ensure successful startup of new item launches through collaboration with Supply Planner, Sales & Marketing and Procurement

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following list that follows is representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

Computer skills including Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Sage/Blue Yonder)

Considerable communication skills, both internally and with external vendors

Creative problem-solving and flexibility

Understands MRP (material requirements planning)

Willingness to learn new skills and grow

Strong attention to detail.

Strong organization and time management skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

At least 5 years of relevant purchasing experience.

Strong inter-personal skills and the ability partner with all organizational levels to driving growth and improved systems, while still maintaining the ability to roll up her/his sleeves to ‘act alone’ in a rapidly growing company.

Results-oriented - organized and able to move between issues, projects, and ‘drumbeat’ planning activities to ensure business needs are met in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel).

Strong project management skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret quality documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Proficient written and oral communication skills.

Highly analytical with excellent oral and written communication.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply mathematical operations and concepts to solving quality process-related problems.

Command of statistics and statistical process control tools.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct reports.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a Full Time Non-Exempt position 40 hour per week, and it may require working additional hours depending on business need requirements.
