Drawing Tender - Production Operator - 3rd shift (train on 1st)

Job Description

Greenwood Mills, Inc., a family-owned textile manufacturing business located in Greenwood, SC that makes cloth for our US Military, employee uniforms, and more! We have been in business for more than 130 years!

Currently seeks motivated employees to help create the yarn we use for clothing. This drawing tender position operates a set of Roving frames, creels sliver cans, repairs creel breaks, removes roll laps and chokes, doffs roving bobbins, pushes full cans and buggies to storage and we need you! You will be shown the area with more description during the interview.

Job Objective:

Visually Inspects cloth for final quality check.

Must understand mechanical operations of all required equipment

Repair frame stops (front & creel breaks, slack ends, lap ups, & chokes)

Creel cans (remove empty & place full)

Doffs roving bobbins (pre-position empty boxes & bobbins, mark roving w/chalk, and push full boxes to storage)

Use proper splicing of ends to prevent slubs in the yarn

Change shift indicator on hank clocks

Perform required cleaning

Collect pneumafil waste

Straighten up bad roving

Follow safety rules prescribed by plant

Must be able to work safely around moving parts

Must be able to transport full cans of drawing sliver weighing up to 90 lbs

Must be able to lift 8 lbs repeatedly and push a 275 lb box on wheels

Must be able to read basic written instructions and write legibly

Must be able to distinguish colors in stock-in-process and waste

Clean roll-on Roving frame

Must be able to wear ear plugs, respirator/dust mask, goggles/eye protection, and other protective pieces of equipment

Must be able to meet Plant schedules and attendance requirements as specified in Company Policies

Must be able to use a step stool

Must pay normal attention to job duties required to maintain efficiency and quality

Schedule:

3rd shift: 12am - 8am

Pay rate: $13.50 Hourly PLUS $1.00 shift
